Trying to date and indentify a Korean made Squier PBass

Hi, I've been a member here for a while, but hadn't logged in for a year or two, and couldn't figure what email / id I had originally used, so I had to create a new account. I found a Korean made Squier PBass at local pawnshop, it feels really high quality, but from the serial I can't figure out when it was manufactured or that it's even supposed to be Korean. I have a Japanese E series serial number that jives, but all serial charts I've found contradict that my recent find is an 80's bass, or even Korean. The serial in question is E933442 in black.

Any insights would be appreciated.

They made squiers in 1989 with the S9 serial number as well, they are called Squier II's. I heard the E serial Korean ones were left over parts from Japan phasing out of squiers but in my experience the bodies were plywood still so maybe it was just the necks.

I've heard of the plywood bodies as well. Guess I'll check before I shell out any cash. Still seems weird with the serial number deal, but there were so many plants in Asia at that time, so who knows. Thanks for the info.

I've had a few MIK Squier basses. They had good, stiff necks and sound/feel just fine for the price point($125 or so). The flatter neck profile makes for a slightly different playing experience and the plywood really isn't a factor...unless you dislike lighter basses.
You may just find a "beater gem" but I probably wouldn't pay too much.
