This maybe my first real post on here, I can not really remember. I have owned a number of really great basses, from Fender Jazz basses, G&L L2000's (three) two spector euro 4's one with a Hazlab pre amp, Fender precision deluxe which had a ton of pickups in it from fralins to EMG's and back to stock. Then an Ibanez SR1200e which is by far the best playing thing I have ever played but something just seems lacking to me. My over all favorite bass is my 72' fender precision which I found on craigslist for $850, it had a badass, old EMG's and oddly the stock bridge, but no stock pickups. So I ripped out the EMG's and the Badass and put the stock bridge back on and Fender standard vintage pickups, (tried frailins but not pbass enough for me) This bass is nearly perfect in almost any situation I have put it in, thanks to the awesome tweeter control I can get almost any tone with this thing.
I would like to get another bass that would have the same low end thump, but can get a tad more snap than my 72'. I also don't like gigging with an old bass like this even though it sounds amazing. Two basses I am considering are a Music Man Sterling classic/standard or G&L LB100. I would like something with as few knobs as possible, what happens is I play with the knobs more then I play the bass.
