So, after having to buy 2 firepods to get 1 working firewire port I finally have a connection! :hyper: I've been studying Reaper and think it will work well for me. What I want to do is, with my midi keyboard, play some drums, then (w/ my guitars) layer in the bass, guitars, etc. My problem is that I don't know what I'm looking at. Although I should have earned a degree in mixolocology after reading Reaper's user guide, I can't ascertain what is a logical way to store my FX, plug-ins, etc., so that I can simply pick my snare, kick, and hi-hat sounds, apply them to keys on my keyboard, and lay down a beat (I don't care to use existing drum loops).

Having never seen anyone actually use sequencing software in person, I'm just unsure where to download my FX and drum stuff... am I a mess or what? :help:

Absolutely at a loss. Here sit with my Firepod... on, Reaper... open, and my bass on my lap, and I have no idea what to do next. I see nothing on my Reaper screen that shows my device as an option. Can anyone tell me where to look? The Firebox instructions prompt me to go to the device manager in my Cubase LE program, but I don't have that program. Performed countless searches........... :help:

Got mine (both) used, and only one of them has cubase le, but no registration number. With the presonus stuff, do I need to record w/ Cubase first then use Reaper only for mixing/sequencing? Is the firepod incompatible w/ Reaper? Anyone know where I can get a free LE download? Thanks....

Hey ReMmy, I run a Firepod as well.

I've tried to use Reaper with very limited success.

However, you can download Reason. Reason has tons of great (and totally customizable) drum sounds and you can download more plugins for free, then it's a matter of patching them through to your midi keys and poof! you're on your way.

You can run reason in sequence with cubase le but I've had mixed results for some reason. (probably my computer being too slow). However what works for me is to record in Cubase and then dump the tracks into reason where you can take advantage of the awesome reverbs and other effects (about a thousand times better sounding than the ones that come with cubase), plus Reason has a Mastering Suite that absolutely slays.

No I don't work for Propeller heads software, but I love Reason! :bassist:
