I’m surprised no one has mentioned the Verellen Meatsmoke. I have a Super Bassman and the Bassman 300 Pro. Both very worthy. I feel like the Bassman 300 is what I lean towards more when I do sludge or doom. You can find them fairly cheap also and most bad reviews are from people who have never actually owned one or don’t like all the bells and whistles. I don’t know how happy you will be if you didn’t like the SVT but both Fenders will blow out your windows if you ask them.
I may not be the best person to ask right now. Mine is having lots of issues with the output tubes. Keep blowing up however we seem to think I have just managed to get two bad batches of KT88s in a row.
Which brand of KT88?
Hahahaha. Well like I said that head probably had something wrong with it from the start. Ended up dying completely. But I also was inexperienced with them at the time and may have fumbled the setup. That was about 15 years ago and had solid state until then and after that. That being said....if it’s not offensively loud I don’t want anything to do with it. HahahaAn SVT??? And the Fridge? Have just always played in very loud bands. I enjoy scaring people. Haha. But seriously...it’s not about how hard it hits he ears....more about creating a sound that you can feel all around you. It’s a vibe thing. That sound that swallows the audience in a blanket of boom and fuzz. I like watching those kinds of bands too.Ashdown Geezer Head of Doom.
Other than that, maybe the Hartley LH1000. It’s not going to get too dirty but has preamp tubes and tons of headroom.
I kind of question why you need such massive amount of power, doom or not.
I totally understand this logic and to a certain degree I’ve tried to adopt it, but I’ve just decided to ignore that for now and go big if I have to. I have a few more years of masochism left in me.I love tube heads (can't say this enough), but unless you are on the quest for the ultimate tone, I'd skip them. I went from an SVT, which I loved, to an Ampeg PF800, which I like. In my opinion, it's not the same, not as good, but it gets the job done. It sounds good and I like the tone. If I had roadies, I'd get another SVT in a second, but at 60 I've decided that it's just not worth hauling around. There are lots of solid state and hybrid amps that sound good. Save your wallet and your back much abuse.
Hahaha. That cab is insane! What is it? I have a bunch of 15s. An old Peavey 2x15. A Kustom 3x15. A Sunn 2x15.Just go 8x15.

The 225 puts out almost as much clean power as the average healthy SVT. The bass is deeper, the mids or a bit scooped, and the top end tends to be pretty aggressive and hard. The amp is optimized for clean headroom and does not compress much until its reaching near max power. There is a little bit of drive on tap in the preamp but not much. I own a 400 and a couple of SVTs; the 400 is significantly louder.
Some videos you might like that feature the Reeves Custom 225.
Get an SVT and a fridge then LOLHahahaha. Well like I said that head probably had something wrong with it from the start. Ended up dying completely.
