How long between re-tubes?I read this article. Disheartening. Re-tubed the 400+ last year for slightly over $500. I'm thinking Tube Depot made very little profit on that.
Priced out re-tubing the Prodigy and if I recall it's around $320 for standard JJ tubes.
I'm addicted to tubes so somebody better so something.
About 10 years for the 400+. It was never really heavily gigged by me. Too heavy. I gigged it for about a year before reverting to lighter heads. How long between re-tubes?
I mostly played through a Vox fifty watter with a Jazz Bass. Cranked with round wounds it was like a bass Stratocaster!I've never even played through a tube amp, but I'm really not a tone chaser and probably wouldn't miss whatever difference there might be.
Prices notwithstanding-- and I'm not saying this with an attitude-- since I read how even preamp tubes can become an issue, I won't buy anything with tubes in it anywhere.
I thought Rock'n'Levis brought down the wall!“Think about the American and British rock bands trying to get into the Cold War Soviet Union to play rock music that Soviets had never heard—through their British tube amps, with tubes manufactured in Russia.”
Why do they want us to think of something that's not historically accurate?
Tube Depot And Eurotubes have "tube sets".With this being said, what would it cost to retube an ampeg pf50t or fender Adam Clayton 50 watt amp? Hopefully not as much as a SVT classic
That’s an astonishing long wait for tubes given that I can get them next day delivery in the UK!!I'm waiting to receive ( and have paid for)a quad of four JJ 6L6's at Long and McQuade for a year and 4 months now. Apparently I'm at the top of the list, so I haven't cancelled yet. I own a Mesa WD800 so there's no real issue about having gear to use. The problem is my love of a tube driven bass sound. There really is something special about it. Those with quality valve amps know what I mean.
You could have bought them from elsewhere. L&M are not really tube resellers. Good luck anyway!I'm waiting to receive ( and have paid for)a quad of four JJ 6L6's at Long and McQuade for a year and 4 months now. Apparently I'm at the top of the list, so I haven't cancelled yet.
