Many people scoffed when I said I was going to use a Peavey Butcher tube amp for bass. To some extent they were wrong, and to another extent they were right.
The amp into my avatar 212 and 410 sounded fantastic until the volume got up to about 1 oclock, which was moderately loud, but not quite loud enough for a loud rockband. After that point on the dial, it just got so boomy it was unuseable beyond that. I have since sold it and purchased a Hartke LH500, which sounds fantastic and is really loud, clear, and punchy as hell through my avatars.
I guess I just needed to experience it for myself, but that guitar amp wasn't quite useable for bass (though it's for none of the reasons people claimed).
