I have a Tube Works 410T that's pretty sweet, and I did a few shows opening for Confederate Railroad 10 years ago, and their bassist had a Tube Works rig with two 410T's and a Tube Works amp (can't remember the model) that he let me use. Liked it quite well. Plus they made a really stellar tube overdrive for guitar that's semi-collectable, but the name escapes me. Don't know much about their history, but I do know Genz Benz bought them out in the 90's. Maybe Roger or Andy can fill us in a little more? Or someone else more familiar with them.

Hi Jimmy...yes, the Blue Tube and Real Tube are quite collectable....especially the ones that say "B.K. Butler". Once I started managing the GB brand for Jeff, I shelved the Tube Works name. We really needed to get more tight and focused, with an eye on line development. The Tube Works thing, with all of its legacy product, was kind of confusing the issue. We still have the name though.

Andy can fill in more back history.

Tubeworks was one distinct type of sound and we kept finding ourself going in a different direction. It was an industry defining product in the 80's, but just didn't have the ability to progress and evolve. For those looking for that kind of sound, it's the go to line though.

Just picked up an RT-3175, and it sounds great. :bassist: It is missing two knobs (in back), but is otherwise in real good shape. I hope the tubes in it last forever and ever. If anybody happens to have a wiring schematic for the RT-3300/3175 series, I would like to get my hands on it...just in case.

Great stuff!

In the early 90s, my rig was a Blue Tube II driving a MosValve 962 power amp (which was later renamed the 1150). I sold the Blue Tube a decade ago, but the 962 is now part of my PA rig.

I still have a rig using the single-space MV982 power amp with an H&K BATT preamp. It's sat unused for about four years.

I just put my other MV962 up for sale on eBay this weekend.

And I think there's a third one somewhere in one of my garage cabinets; I've got to hunt it down and sell it.

I have one of the old beige tubeworks "concept and design BK Butler" model 913.
I must say I was dissapointed when I popped it open and found so many non-tube gain elements!
I fixed a loose capacitor, and I hope that nothing under all that epoxy ever breaks! Would be a nightmare to try and repair.
Sound cool on guitar, not so much on bass.

Funny enough... Confederate Railroads sound guy GAVE me the tubeworks rack that was their original guitarists.. I think the guitar player was named Michael Lamb.

THey were doing a photoshoot at my club in Cleveland, TN when he gave it to me.

Honestly, it sounded pretty trashy to me, I think it eventually ended up in garbage

I still use my RT-3300 head, and love it, although I think I need to replace some caps as it's gotten a bit noisy lately. Great tone and lots of power!
I also have the RT-3100 100 watt combo with the 10" speaker. Still a great practice amp!
I'm constantly tempted to buy more TW gear, but it's too old and heavy for me now. If there was ever an underappreciated bass amplification company, TubeWorks was it!
