Tune Basses

Im looking for a growly Jazz bass type sound. I would go with a typical Fender Jazz but something just isnt right about them to me - the body style, the neck...I dunno, but i just havent found one that I liked.

I went to Sam Ash on my way to work and messed around a little bit and found two basses i really liked - a Fender Jazz 24 and a Tune twb53 (a four and a five string respectively) - any feedback on these two basses, or any others that would give me a good low punchy growly sound for around 600 bucks? I've never heard of Tune basses before - how reliable are they? Good customer service?

thanks alot in advance guys - I love Talkbass!

Depends on which Tune you're talking about.

Tune basses used to be made in Japan, if I remember correctly. They were considered pretty good bases. Nowadays, Tune basses are basically the Sam Ash house brand and are not considered such great performers. The two companies are not related, I believe.
