Tune Core Who Tune

We used TuneCore to publish a song on ITunes and Amazon. It was easy, pretty cheap and they got it live pretty quickly. We didn't have to play for anything more than the initial fee, which seemed reasonable.

As for a band website, we went with BandVista ( Link Removed ) and we haven't looked back. Very easy to update and change content. (and that's the secret to a good site; make them keep coming back).

As far as Tune Core goes...

I saw the owners at the CMJ festival in the fall. The main advantage they seemed to be communicating was that they put an artists copyrights first, so when someone downloads your song you get all the royalties as opposed to the website/company getting a cut. You can choose to waive your rights but basically they have your back when it comes to getting paid and protecting your music.

Of course you have to pay a fee up front to get your songs up. But when they are up you can get them sent to multiple places all at once like Amazon and iTunes.

Wow Riknbass!!! Looks good listening to Hickory Wind as I write this cool tune. Yeah it's easy to navigate, page loads pretty quick. Just wondering if there is a ballpark number on getting songs on tune core. Also if you know how much it would cost to get a web site similar to yours if we were to go through Band Vista.

Tunecore is separate from Bandvista. When you use Tunecore they give you a profile page. It's not the same thing as having your own web site. You can check BandVista's site for their charges. They have different plans.

We only released one song as opposed to an EP ( our CD is free to download from out site) to test the waters. We make enough off the song to pay for the website throughout the year.

I think the price is on the homepage and you can either pay by single or album. A full album is $50, singles are $10. Its kinda steep at first but you get all the return so that might be something you want to consider first. I wonder if there's a separate price for EPs?

No there shouldn't be an extra fee for getting your music on iTunes or any of the other outlets they offer no matter how many you want to take advantage of.
