I have a snark super tight tuner that I just started using, the problem is that when I pluck the E string the tuner says its the F string. How do I fix this?

I had the same problem with the Guitar Tuna app yesterday. It detected wrong strings like 1/3 of the time.
Could it be your E string is simply sharp? Does your bass even have an F string?
Snark tuners totally suck in my experience. An inaccurate tuner is worse than no tuner at all! You're really better off just using your ear.

- Tune with the 12th fret harmonic (not the open string).
- Make sure you are muting all the other strings.

This happened to me while I was tuning my six string on guitar tuna, all I had to do was tune it up a few times and it fixed the problem. Unfortunately this did not fix the tuning problem I have rn.
Sounds like the tuner might be working! Adjust the tuning peg for the E string to loosen it until the tuner indicates an E.

I use the Snark clip-on and Snark SN-10S pedal tuner. Both work fine and I find them to be as accurate as my Peterson Strobostomp 2 tuner. The guitarist in our duo uses the same tuners.
Your E string is tuned way too high. Nothing is wrong with your tuner.
I see you just recently joined TB. Is this your first bass?
I tuned my E string down and it still didn't work. And yes, this is my first bass.

Snark tuners are designed for guitar/anything. Buy a dedicated bass tuner... I have one that looks like a little Fender headstock, cheesy and it only does EADG but it works.

Tuners detect notes, not strings. Make sure your tuner is in chromatic mode. If it's still showing an F that means it's picking up an F harmonic somewhere. I agree with the person who said to use the 12th fret harmonics. I find this is useful for my lower strings, particularly E and B.
You down tuned and it still reads F?
Are you muting all the other strings?
Crank that E string way down and work your way back to E.
All clip on tuners suck so I won’t single out any brand. If you want a tuner get a tuner. Or be cool with it working intermittently like all clip ons for 50 years.
