tuning a bass to Db F# B E

Hello you all.. Im new to the site and I was wondering how you tune a bass to Db F# B E on a bass tuner. There are alot of songs that i want to learn to play from a perfect circle, chevelle etc but they all have tuning that arnt standard, drop D, etc.. Is there a site i can go to that has all of these tuning options? Any help would be be great, thanks alot

String your 4 banger BEAD or buy a 5 string with a low B.
Tune it standard (BEAD or BEADG). That's low enough.
Or tune down a full step and get that low A mwuahahaha!

Buying a chromatic tuner lets you tune to any note.

And here's those note positions you asked after based on a standard BEAD tuning:

Db is the 2nd fret B string.
F# is the 2nd fret E string.
B is the 2nd fret A string.
E is the 2nd fret D string.

Drop D is DADG, drop your E string 2 steps down. Normally you tune the 5th string E to the open A. For Drop D, tune the 7th fret E string to the open A and leave all other strings alone, that's Drop D tuning - Killing In The Name Of (Rage Against The Machine), Everlong (Foo Fighers), All Fired Up (Pat Benetar hawhawhaw)

And if you can't afford new strings, tune your 4-banger down to CGCF (Drop D a full step down). That will see you right on those tunings too (1st fret C string is Db)

If you are down tuning strings make sure they're heavy gauge strings, that the strings are still snug in the nut and if you get buzzing or the strings touching the fretboard, you may need the bass set up for low tunings. Or buy an ESP bass

Oh yeah, an octave pedal (down) and standard tunings, while not as hellish sounding, are fine for the bedroom. When I play this style I use standard tuning with distortion and octave down and with a little reverb sounds hellish enough for my tastes.

Hopefully thats of some use to you and allows you to worry more about learning and playing the songs you love, and less about the tunings chosen by internet tabbers

You just need to tune all your strings down 1 1/2 steps, or 3 frets. Bear in mind this will likely make your strings rattle more and you may need to adjust the setup on your bass. Buying some heavier gauge strings may help reduce string rattle as the tension will be a little higher.

i have a korg chromatic tuner. How many times to I press the flat buttoin and all that. I have tried a few times but cant seem to get the right notes to come up

You're going to want to hit it three times.

First off, I would suggest learning how to get to Db/C# or other tunings. If you can't understand what they mean or how to get there, you shouldn't bother tuning that way. I think this is a good site for looking at tunings/scales/chords.
