tuning issue

i really love my CV P, but I'm having a really hard time with how well it stays in tune, or, I should say, how well it doesn't stay in tune. I have to retune about every other song. Not a lot, but it needs tweaking. I set it down to head to the can last night (in a stand of course), and when i got back, 3/4 strings were out of tune.

This is something my Fender J doesn't do. I have to tweak it maybe once during the set.

Is this cheap tuners on the CV? the bridge? what's going on?

What is CV? Do the tuners have a screw on the end of the part that you turn? Tightening that might help.

This. Make sure the screws in the tuners are tightened. Don't crank them too hard, though, or you may cause other problems.

A few things to make sure of:

Make sure you have enough string wound around each post (2-3 is usually a good amount)

Maks sure you tune up from flat when you're tuning.

Fresh strings will fall out of tune, so give them a nice press by the bridge and a few pulls at the 12th fret.

As funny fingers said, make sure the screws on the tuners are tight.

Sometimes tuners have a little metal and plastic plate that holds the shaft of the tuner to the gear. I've had some success taking tuners apart and bending the plate a bit further to hold the shaft and gear together a bit tighter. Not sure if the CV tuners have that.

When all else fails new tuners could be in order. there are some nice drop in replacements from hipshot.

Thanks. everything seems tight, and strings are new-ish, though not brand new. I'll check out the plastic plate idea though.
