Tunning to Drop A

I've messed around with Drop A on my 5 string, and I use a .130. It's fine for my needs but if you're going to be slamming on the A string you might want a .135. You might want to check your intonation but otherwise no other adjustments should be needed.

^yeah, no, you missed a few points. There's a fairly good chance you'll need the nut slots opened up with an increase in string gauge; maybe not but the possibility exists when you change gauges. Check relief. Basically a full setup routine should be run through to get it right. Not a problem if you know how.

I played a 5 string in A standard and I personally used .130. And had no issues with the neck, but it was a brand new bass, so depending on the age of yours you may need a set up. I wouldn't worry to much about that change. I played a 4 stringer as well in A standard, and my tech had to modify the nut as all the strings were way bigger than the slots from factory.

I went up to a .130 on my 4 string bass and I had no problems with the string fitting in the slot. Just make sure when you put them on you put plenty of turns and wind it down the post. The lower down the post it goes the greater the break angle and that should keep it nice and tight.

thanks fellas. Ill probably get a tech to check it out. I will kick myself in the head if i **** up my warwick. Also these fellas in the band want me to use a pick, which i hate cause my 3 finger attack is right on. Whats a good pick for some deathcore bass?
