Turning knobs on Boss BF-2 causes noise...

I just got a Boss BF-2 and really like the sound. However, when it gets to the peak of the sweep there is a high hiss like sound. It isn't so bad that it is unusable but the other thing is the hiss/noise also happens when turning the manual and depth knob of the pedal. Turning the manual knob completely counter clockwise makes the hiss extremely noticeable and it sounds like the effect is not engaged.

Is this a serious problem? Or something that could be fixed pretty easily? I do not know much about electronics. I need to know though because I may return it.

Thanks for any feedback.

Pots can get dirty, you can try cleaning them with electronic contact cleaner, replace them, or stop turning the knobs! ;)

As for the change in 'hiss' while under normal usage conditions, I can't speak to.

The manual knob is pretty much your level knob, so turning it completely counter-clockwise is not the way to go.. Try every knob at 12 o'clock and set it from there..

I've had the exact same pedal and have never had a noise problem with it - ever.
