You will be better served buying cabs.

Not necessarily. Factory made cabs make lots of concessions to the need to make a reasonable profit, most of them related to the cost of labor, some of them to marketing concerns. DIY cabs don't have those issues to contend with, so DIY can deliver a lot more bang for the buck, especially compared to factory cabs that cost $300 or more per woofer. But no newbie is going to come up with a design that competes with factory built.
