Two Bass Power Trio

I beg to differ. Here's a link to '72 "Highway Star." As I stated, 2 basses, a Rick and a Fender.

It’s a bunch of videos shot long before MTV ever existed - they spliced a few together, and Roger is playing different basses.

When Jimmy Page switches from acoustic to electric on Stairway, it’s still one guitseist.

When Freddy Mercury sings multiple harmony parts on a somg, and they put multiple images of bim on the screen, it’s not proof that there are multiple Freddy’s.

Alice Cooper has not been beheaded thousands of times.

What you see may not be real.

Oh wow. Are you kidding? They are standing side by side playing, but you think that's AI? In '72? I'll assume so, or that I am not reading this now.

I saw them in that period and they did occasionally use 2 basses. Jeez. Go argue with someone else.

One guy. Same hat. 2 basses. The cover shot from that album had the headstock of a Fender bass on it - "Machine Head". The probably wanted to get that bass in the video, so that got spliced in, as well as the footage of him playing the Ric.

Good bye
You are right! I never noticed that. Had to watch the video closely but it was spliced, so I apologize for my indignation. Just one guy. Damn, I guess I was so stoned when I saw them that I thought there were two bassists playing. all these years watching the YouTube I thought there were two of him.

No wonder he played in rhythm!

Peace, bro.

That’s just a bunch of various clips of them playing live, edited together, over the audio of the album studio track that somebody did on their own, it’s not “official”. Not created by whatever current record company owns the recordings(I assume it is still Warner Brothers/WEA)for promotional purposes. I see no artifacts that “AI” was used.

There are photos of guitarist Richie Blackmore noodling on a bass at rehearsal or a recording session, but it’s just that, him messing around, and one live shot that looks like some sort of jam…

But that one is not DP, or a trio.

This thread is focused on only bands that are trios with two basses, and drums. There are a number of bands/line-ups with more members and two basses, like Ned’s Atomic Dustbin, but those are irrelevant to this discussion.

Yeah, that video fooled me for years, it's been on YouTube forever. I never watched it closely enough and really thought they had two bassists. Shows how easily I can be fooled? Made a fool out of myself arguing with Micguy about it too. Good, humbling lesson for me.
