Two basses on "Sugar" by Maroon 5?

When I have played this song in wedding bands, typically the guitar player plays the chords, but it sounds to me like the chords are actually played on a bass doing double stops, with another bass doing the regular low-pitched bass line. No difference either way, other than I love it when a song has two basses going at once. :) Comments?

I have thought this too, sometimes I'll do those higher chords in the verses, then switch to low notes in the choruses. I think Richland123 is correct about there being synth bass in there.
