Eased some gas pains yesterday.
Got two new basses.
Bass #1.
1971 Fender Tele-bass.
Got this bass from a fellow TBer. (thanks Kirk)
All original except paint. (was stripped years ago.)
Nice light "tele-bass" a real thumper.
Nice, C-neck, feels, and plays great.
This bass will be used for Blues, and Root music gigs.
Bass #2.
This was totally unexpected.
While driving home.
I stopped at a small town music store.( have not been there in 18 years.)
Was looking for string.
Saw a late 90's USA Hot Rod Percision bass. (Orange)
These were the PJ model, that where made for a few years.
This bass was mint, but had a jack issue. (small repair.)
I told owner, he said he would fix it.
I joked, and ask if he had another.
To my surprise, he said yes.
Went out back, to his store room.
An came back with a Sunburst Hot Rod. (Rosewood fingerboard)
That had never been opened since 1999, when owner got both basses from Fender.
This bass was beyond mint.
Plastic on pickguard.
Unopened, warrenty, bag, with all the goodies. (Time machine new)
I had to have it.
Now to sneak past my wife, when I get home?
