Two questions i'd like to be answered

An AB box has a switchable A and B inputs, and then one output.

ie: bass 1 into input A. bass 2 into input B. Output goes to one amp. Some work the opposite way ie: 1 input and 2 outputs, and some can do either.

I'm not sure how to describe it, but Timmy C.'s sound on Calm Like A Bomb is quite similar to what i'm looking for.
Something growly, like an idling car engine.

Actually i'd like to be enlightened about the difference between a wah-wah and a whammy :rolleyes:

Whadaya' say, i just spotted a Dunlop 105Q Wah on Amazon.com for a 100 bucks.
I'll do some more research on this, case i'll be buying stuff quite blindly, 'case you can't try 'em out before buying on the internet, aye?
I'll check my local music store, too, they might even have something for basses.

Gimme a minute and i'll try look something up for you.

Edit: Dammit! Vosk seems to have removed his site. He played a RATM riff (Calm As a Bomb) with 105Q wah into Boss ODB-3 and it sounded SO good! I think that's the closest Tim Commerford wah-tone I've ever heard.

You should try PM him here on the board and ask him to rehost the file if he still have it!

The wah wah adds a "WAH WAHHHH" sound to your tone. It makes it so that when you rock it back and forth it adds wah wah sounds to the different frequencies.

The whammy, the WH4 does a whole lot. First off, it can make you sound like you're playing one octave higher (like a guitar I believe), two octaves higher, one octave lower, or two octaves lower. Also, it lets you harmonize between your normal tone + one octave up, one down, a 5th up/down, 4th up/down, etc, etc. Also it has a divebomb thing, which acts like a full-floating tremolo pulled up all teh way back.

A Crybaby Bass 105q is what Timmy C uses, so yeah get that. It does sound pretty good with the ODB-3.

To expand on what Steve said, the Whammy is a pitchshifter. It sounds nothing at all like a wah-wah. The one octave up does up you into guitar range, but it definitely does not sound like a guitar--very digital and synth-y. Some people love that sound (like me) and some don't.

The harmony functions of the whammy sound realy good though, really fills the space. Try one out if you can.
