He was all apologetic and I'll buy you another set and all and it to me was like no big deal. I mean heck I got a free bridge out of the deal why am I going to worry about a set of strings not that I would have had him buy a set without the bridge.

I like that GOTOH 201 anyway. same basic thing as a Fender bent steel bridge, just a little more mass.

I did notice the strings crossed at the headstock. But, it never dawned on me that it could have happened due to a string breaking. That’s a smart and easy fix!

I would move it all to a more compact version using surface mount parts and run the pots on wires. You should then be able to use it in any bass that had the room. That is my thinking.

The 'issue' with the Millennium stacked pot is that it was custom-made for Peavey, and a suitable replacement is tough to find.

That's INSANE Chuck. The Smithsonian Palaedium looks like a $1000 bass. I've NEVER seen one THAT clean. I'm not sure if I hate you yet or not. :)

That Sansamp Tech 21 video was entertaining and educational. Tim is a great player, for sure. My fists went in the air for War Pigs and High Enough (Motown). The Run to the Hills finale was great, too. Bruce is the man, as is Steve, of course. I also had no idea that Ian Gillan's bass lines from Deep Purple were so darn creative. Prog Genesis ; Very cool line under those vocals. I was waiting for the Geddy Lee tone, since there is a Geddy Lee signature Sansamp, too. Oh well.

It sounds like a tale as old as time itself. "We put everything we had into production but, people simply weren't buying enough to make it worth our while."

I suspect that the revolution of CNC gave way to mass expansion to saturate the market in a short amount of time. Problem is, Hartley is always on the move to take on the next giant and products don't reach full maturity or a level of perfection.

The only thing I can fault Peavey on is the fact that once they move on...they move on. Many of his instruments are very relevant and could make a big impact if re-visited and tweaked. Sometimes I fear that the company is positioning itself for a mass buyout.

Hartley doesn't have too many years left and Courtland, well...just wants a paycheck.

It makes perfect sense from a troubleshooting perspective. I remember reading multiple posts about having to remove the knobs to access the preamp.
