UA Solo 610 vs. LA-610

the diff is like organic grass fed milk from the greenest pasture at the height of spring vs. the most perfect bundle of burrata made from said milk that can also dice, slice, shake, blend, mix, and cook you a killer meal.
the tone from the solo is nice, and in that UA family, but truth be told, there really is NOSUBSTITUTE for the la610. its a monster of a sweet recording preamp that does everything while doing it gorgeously well.

ok, we're talkin some intense preamps. yea, the la610 does whatever you want. both the pre's you mention are definitely on the warmer side of hifi things.
but another to consider if you just want a warm, yet hifi DI/preamp would be the millennia td-1. truth be told, i dont put it in the same catagory as the UA pre, but for the money, a great hifi pre.
are you looking for the studio or something for gigging? cause keep in mind, unless you're gigging w/ meyer sound cabs or in super quiet settings, the subtleties of the high end pre will be lost. to me, only the demeter line of pre's really deliver a hifi tone worthwhile for gigging. my hbp-1 is still my goto hit 'em with some hifi pre.
for the studio, i say stick w/ the la610. engineers may switch up pre's like we switch up socks, but at least for me, its one of the few pre's that i can nearly safely say, it'll work on anything.

Yes, it does clean just fine if you need it, just keep the Gain control to the lower settings, depending on how hot the output of your bass is.
Yep, an LA610 is a nice pre. I've had the pleasure of using one a few times, my BL has one. I have no experience with the Solo 610.
