UBER 212 or NEOX 212T ???

I can't decide? The specs are very similar even though the cab designs are very
different. The cabs are at different stores so I can't do a side by side.

I like old school thump and my back likes the portability factor on the NEOX.

Any thoughts from owners of these cabs?

You are on a win-win track, no matter which one you choose. I bought a NeoX 212T and liked it so much I bought a second one. The UBER series was not out at the time of my purchases. I'm keeping my Neo's as they work swimmingly with my SVT-VR, SVT-3Pro and Shuttle 6.0. I'm a happy camper.

I have A/B'd them directly, and very enthusiastically went home with the Uber. If you want that round and fat "old-school" vibe, and still have a snappy modern cab, except no substitutes. The Uber 212, (and 410) are really in a class by themselves.

I ended up getting the Uber 212 and all I can say after playing through it here at home with my GBE 1200 is....

WOW what a cab :hyper:

Unbelievable how much sound this cab puts out for only having 2-12's in it. Running the 1200 almost flat with the mid and hi mid rolled off about 3 clicks and the tube channel just breaking up a bit and the FET channel clean with the lo and hi signal shape on and set at 12:00. Massive punch with either channel and combined, the tone is right there. I set the tweet in the cab about 30%.

My big reason for going with the Uber was the size factor. The cabinet lends itself better for stacking with my other cabs and the 1200 will sit on it better. Price really wasn't a deciding factor but Dave over at The Bass Place gave me a good deal on the cab, so I'm a happy camper.

Now I'm thinking maybe the Avatar and Carvin might go bye bye and an Uber 410 replace them.

After playing the cab for about 45 minutes, it makes me wish I'd gotten an Uber cab months ago. Tomorrow I'm going to run it up with the Uber and my Avatar on the 1200 and see hor much air that combo moves :)

Congrats on the Uber 212! I've been very pleased with mine. Just wondering how it sounds with the Carvin BRX10.2 Neo on top? Aren't both those cabs rated for 600 watts @ 4ohms? If so you ought to be able to get the full 1200 watts in that compact stack. :eek: :bassist:

Just tried it with my Avatar B410 NEO 4 OHM :) The sound of those two cabs together is just plain awesome with the 1200. I've always been impressed with the B410 Avatar but side by side both cabs pushed with the 1200, there's no doubt that the Uber cab gets the edge. The 12's just out punch the Eminence neo 10's in the Avatar. Sitting directly in the center in front of both cabs, the 12's just kill and the 10's get a full round sound but the Uber just plain sounds louder.

I'll try the Carvin tomorrow.

In the short time I played the NEOX at the store with a Shuttle 6.0 hooked up to it, it had a great full tone and very hi-fi sounding. I still wanted to have another look at the UBER due to the size of my amp rack. I wasn't feeling comfortable about setting it on top of the narrower depth NEOX cabinet. By the time I went back to check out the UBER, it was late and I still had to drive home across town.

I didn't play through the UBER at the store. When I looked at the cab a second time, I just liked the form factor better for stacking with my current cabs so I went with the UBER. When I finally got it home and played it. I thought it seemed to hit harder in the lower mids than the NEOX I tried out. In my limited experience so far with the cab, the UBER just seems more like a brute force type of sound rather than the more finesse type of tone I heard through the NEOX.

The specs on both cabs are so similar that form factor might be the decider for most buyers. That and I really do hate rat furr like the NEOX has, the UBER has a tolex type covering.

Yeah, you'd think the vertical alignment of the NeoX would be a complete advantage over the Ubers, but, not so. Side by side, both cabs have a pretty even response top to bottom, but the NeoX seems a bit, "polite", where the Uber is just flat out mean. Also, the Uber has an old-school vibe about it, hard to put in words, but it's fat and round, yet still pretty tight. Both are very articulate, no rumbly mud, but the Uber just kicks so much harder.

It looks like you managed OK ;)

I'd have to agree with your assessment of both cabs. Another happy Uber 212 user here, I went with it over the NeoX because it sounded "bigger" and more "old school".

I picked mine out based entirely on sound. I had forgotten that it was a neo cab and based on the sound I thought it would weigh much more. I was pleasantly surprised when I went to roll it out of the store.

In summary, the Uber is a neo cab that doesn't sound like a neo cab -- whatever that means.

hi Gents- just quick "design thought element". .....NeoX vs. Uber.

With the Uber series, we were trying to get the benefits of Neo (weight and power handling), combined with the more traditional sound of ceramic cabs (organic, warm, fat, grunt).

To my ears, it seemed that many neo cabs have a certain mid-honk in them. We did the best we could to eliminate that.
