So-called Tung Oil rolled on would be as good as polyurethane products (that can also come water-based, by the way), sinks into the wood before drying and is easy to recoat after a light sand. Wet areas inside doorways can be made less slippery by adding to/sprinkling some sand on the wet coat. Or you can buy yacht deck paint that has ground walnut shell added to make it non-slip. Avoid the risk of spontaneous combustion of some of these products by disposing of rags, etc carefully.
Is your floor laid over joists and bearers that keep it clear of the soil below? Snow is definitely not a problem here but termites certainly are!!!
