It’s a actually regrets/remorse about missed chances, feelings still there, but for whatever reason, resignation that it’s perhaps too late to act on those feelings. Scott Walker’s “Duchess” is somewhat similar.I don't know what the words mean, but it's sad

That’s a “break-up” song? I thought is was about a certain type of Californian excess/decadence in the 70’s.
The vid, as displayed here, was captioned “Hotel California”, so it’s reasonable to believe that it was that song, one that I never need to hear again.The song is "Already Gone" from the Hotel California tour.
