unbalanced G?

Does anyone else have this problem?
i've noticed on two of my basses at higher volumes my G sounds out of balance with the rest of the strings (much softer) and i dont think it's cause i'm playing it any different than the other strings. but it's a possibility

anyone got any advice?

It can be a common problem in many basses. I think the first things you should do is check string and pickup height: bring the pickups closer to the G string.

If that doesn't help, changing your pickups to those with adjustable pole pieces (Dimarzios Js and P/Js are know for being good and affrodable) most likely will fix your problem.

String gauge and quality are also important. Some thinner gauges might sound especially anemic.
