I've been fortunate enough to hang with the Toad here in the midwest a time or two, and it's always a warming experience. The man just loves life, and loves the bass. And, while I know it's bad luck to say something like this, he might just be an even bigger gear whore than I am, which is saying something. The belchfest was a blast, the Cincy hang was great, and the guy never let me pay for my lunch either time. Next time, I'm definitely buying.

Phil, ya done good. I'm actually jealous of your trip, and I know what flying with an infant is like. After all these years, I still haven't met FOGHORN, DONOSAUR, or any of the other NY TB crew. I know you did the thing up in style, though. Long live TB!

Anytime, Kev. I had some in town gigs recently, but I knew you were back in LA. Otherwise I would've let you know.

BTW- I'm only about 20 ish minutes from Columbia or a short bus ride from the GWB.

I think I just stepped in some love. Geez, somebody clean this place up. :)

Hope to get in on some the meetup action next time. I'm about 1.5 hours north of NYC and get down there regularly to see friends and hear music.

I see you were smart enough to pass on the Times Square New Year's Eve mob, even if you did go to Radio City. When I see that SEA of bodies it makes me shiver. In 12 years of living in the city, I always made sure to steer clear of that nightmare. The San Genaro fest is crowded enough.

Yea man. The idea a pressing flesh with drunken freezing twentysomethings listening to bad entertainment waiting for a lighted ball to drop so I can kiss some wench I don't know and hasn't had a blood test is beyond unappealing.

Did I do that?
For the record, folks, Ed was playing in a trio with amplified guitar, in a big room. Ed had no amp, and his sound filled the room nicely.
As for that Lipkins bow, I sold it before Sue got famous. I thought I really put one over on the buyer. I got $2,100.

Yeah, Don has quite a unique sense of humor. One day I received a letter from Mr. Higdon. Inside was a check for one million dollars. Knowing that he has the wherewithal to back up such a number, I actually entertained the thought (albeit briefly) that the thing was for real. I called him up and was sadly disabused of that notion. Donosaurus had a good laugh. :crying:

Toad, sorry I missed you this trip. Perhaps in June? Great adventure post. Hey, I just let my goatee go full--too bad.

Clean, big, round and clear. Warm but bright at the same time. That bass is quick to respond with a fantastic sound pizz or arco, but rings with ease, as the top gets moving. Another bass I could play all day and not get tired of.
