ok well someone recommended Avatar speaker cabs to go with my new Little Mark Tube 800 that I got for my birthday! (yay!)

however the one I was looking at, the 4x10 is rated at 1000 watts @ 4 Ohmns and the amp puts out 800 watts at 4 Ohmns. Is this going to be a problem if I actually get the cab?

It is not a problem, only possibly a limitation. "Headroom" of wattage on an amplifier is a good thing, it allows you to run your speakers without running your amplifier too hard. The possible downside to your setup is the amp may distort naturally when run on full, then again I have no experience with either the amp nor cab companies, so I'm not sure how MarkBass acts on 11.

It will have the same effect as filling a 1000 pound capacity pickup truck with only 800 pounds of manure. :eyebrow:
I used manure as the example cargo as that's what any one who tells you that there's any such thing as underpowering is full of.

Does anybody actually turn their amp up full ever? Is it even possible without sounding awful?

In my experience... you can have a head that is more powerful than your cabinet, AS LONG AS YOU DON'T PUSH THE CABINET TOO HARD. Your situation sounds like a perfect match.

(I've been pushing an Avatar 2x10 Kappa Pro (4 ohm) with my Ampeg SVT-CL for years now. That head could potentially kill that cab, but so far --- I've paid attention to not drive the speakers too hard & all seems well.)

I am pushing an Avatar B212 (NEO) with an Ampeg SVT 3 Pro right now. I love this cab!! The 12 inch Eminence drivers that are in this cab are extremely punchy, and clear. I can get a low end from this cab that I couldn't get from my 15 inch cab even. And, not to mention, I can lift this cab with one hand.

Well, somebody is going to owe somebody 200 watts.

Sounds like a great match-up. I've read more than a handful of good reviews on both the Markbass and Avatar lines.

Yes it is absolutely possible especially if you are running an amp with an audio taper that does not clip or add to much noise when your running it really hot. I've got an EA Doubler and I've run both the gain and master full out without any ill effects.

As for the OPs second question I think you can do much better then an avatar cabinet which to me sounds muffled and undefined. That being said they are not bad cabs for the money. I'd much prefer a Bergantino cabinet if your budget would allow it. But keep in mind what I consider muffled and undefined others may label as warm and smooth and those same people may find the Bergantino stuff to aggressive, trebly and more attenuated in the bass. But again that is my opinion.
