Uneven output from Fender black tapewounds?

Has anyone noticed uneven output from their Fender black tapewounds? Not a problem with magnetic pickups as you can adjust pickup height to compensate but really stands out with a piezo bridge, unless it's the bridge itself of course...

Had a set years ago on my old Pbass with no such issue, as far as I can remember. I believe it sounded alright, given the type of strings, with no need for pickup adjustment. It's been a while though.

I have encountered what you have on my Carvin AC40 fretless bass, which is one of those thin bodied acoustic-electric basses. I adjusted my E-Qing and it helped, but you can still hear the difference. I also use them on my fretless Fender P, but it is not as pronounced on the Fender. You might also adjust your playing and/or compression to help out. It does seem to be a quirk of that set of strings when using a piezo bridge, although I have seen other sets do this as well.
