Hi,
I’ve looked over all the posts here trying to find the reason for the low volume of the E and A strings on my fretless Squire j-bass in both pickups. Volume is half of the D and G.
It is not due to pickup height, type of strings, amp eq, etc. I have tried all the suggestions offered here and none make a difference.
Before I order a new control plate ($8 on eBay), I wanted to run it by you guys.
I have owned the bass for several years but haven’t played it in some time. A few months ago I plugged it in and discovered the problem.
The bass is set up correctly, neck is great, strings are good, acoustic volume is even, etc.
I believe it is in the electronics, IMO.
Can anyone suggest a test for checking it out? Once again, both pickups have the same issue.
I’ve looked over the wires and the are all solid connections.
What would cause both pickups to go bad?
Thank you for your help and time.
Louie
