Just had a short scale acoustic bass made for me with individual piezos under the bridge (which are impossible to get at) and the string volumes are varied (E string is quiet) I've tried a compressor which doesn't really address the issue, been looking at preamps but it's got confusing... what I really need is one that has individual string volume adjustments but can't find one... any thoughts?

the transducer must be under that bone bridge piece , there are some tricks you can do , I think the common one is to put a thin veneer over the transducer wire to give it a even flat surface to sit on , and in some cases removing that helps it . I'd pop off the strings and see what is under that bone or plastic bridge for starters
