I've searched but couldn't find info on modifying an EBS pedal...
maybe I suck at searching...

anyway, some are familiar with the problem - the Unichorus has an internal trim pot to adjust the wet/dry mix, but I'd like to place it on the outside of the pedal...

Can I screw anything up, should I be careful about anything? I mean, the thing is crowded inside, that's one thing, but has anyone tried modifying an EBS and can maybe give me some tips?

Honestly, I'd leave that alone, but if you want to do any modding... you'll definitely need a bigger chassis. If it's anything like my MultiComp, it's crowded in there!

Beyond that, it's a matter of how the trimpot is soldered to the PCB. You could probably unsolder it and solder in wires for the new pot (of similar resistance specs), but you'll probably be working with some tiny components overall... not the best place for a novice with a soldering iron.

Honestly, for moving a wet/dry control, it's probably best left alone. How often do you really change a setting like that when you've got a Depth knob on the front?

I may not start with this project (I think I'll make a looper for my Korg G5 first), but I do want to leave a mark on my stuff it sounds stupid and I may even change my mind, but I'm in the middle of my exam period and that's usually when I get my stupid ideas on the other hand, the challenge itself is tempting enough, though I really do need experience first...

again, if someone has already tried it, please share your thoughts

EBS stuff is 90% surface mount, so DEFINITELY not a place for a novice with a hot soldering iron. Changing the pot would be relatively simple, but there won't be room in the chassis to mount it.

I've worked with EBS stuff a fair bit, so if you really want help I can give you some guidance. However, I'm not a fan of modding stuff unless there's a really, really good reason.

Take two middle income 20 somethings. One buys a brand new Jetta and leaves it stock. The other buys a Skyline and modifies it to within an inch of it's life. Guess which one you're more likely to drive past broken down on the freeway?

(In the U.S.... the Skyline, no doubt about it. And not because it's a bad car, but because out here in the SF Bay Area, I've never seen so many nice cars turned into "rice rockets" that resembled rusty time bombs with noisy clocks...)

If you want easy access, the simplest mod would probably be to just drill a hole in the bottom plate and adjust the trim pot using a small screwdriver.
