Hi Guys!
Been a while, loggin in to the forum every now and then though.

I just thought i would post some pictures and write some info on a really nice project i got going on with Unicorn Bass, that i am really stoked about.
We have been working on my signature bass for a while, and now its getting close to launching it, hopefully in february/the beginning of march. The first examples is getting build as we speak.

I know the Unicorn instruments been talked about on the forum, so hopefully some of you guys will enjoy the info and pics.
There are actually some instruments in the US i think, and a few that will ship this spring.

Now, my take on an instrument is, you should never be fighting it. My search for the perfect instrument has always been about finding an instrument that answers to my fingers, my playing style and the different musical situations that i find myself in. While the instrument should have its own vibe and soul, it shall not fight against you and the musical ideas that you have.
So the idea is to build the most effective and effortless instrument that we could come up with.
That means several important aspects, such as weight, ergonomic's, size, spacing, balance, scale length, and fret accessibility.
Countless hours with Christian Olsson (main builder) has been spend, checking out wood's, numbers, measurements and previous basses.

So the final results will be

(5-string)
32' scale length
16mm spacing at bridge
43mm spacing at saddle
19mm neck thickness
3mm width at the end of C and E string
Honduras Mahogny body
5A quilt maple top (and backside)
5A quilt maple headstock top
Maple neck with purpleheart stripes
Ebony fingerboard
26 frets
Unicorn SS Microphones, integrated in a full covering ebony ramp
Unicorn NEO preamp (only a blend pot)
Full accessibility to 26'th fret
ABM Monorail bridge
Gotoh GB-7 tuners (light weight version)

Well, thats pretty much it. It is based on my old Unicorn Artist bass, a 34' 4-string.
I dont have that many pictures, i will post the ones i have. The Unicornbass website also has a build/factory blog, where Christian is updating his projects as they take shape.

I'm really stoked about the project, just thought i would share it would you guys. Hope you enjoy it. Now there is just a couple of month's of sleepless nights :hyper:

Hey Andy! Thanks for the kind words.
Yeah i think its gonna be a great combination, its the same that i have in my current Unicorn. I'ts very open and honest sounding, very direct projection.
Kinda Garrison if you know what i mean. Very "fast", nothing disappears or change character.

Hey Chuck! Yes, heard about your bass, and have seen it take form while visiting the shop. That is gonna be one killer instrument!
About the spacing, i am sure that could be changed if you talk to Christian as soon as possible.
16 is the only thing that works for me now days, very comfortable.
