This one isn’t all that unique other than it’s the only one I ever seen. Circa 1976 coz that was when I bought it by the renown boutique bass builder Johnny Pro II.

Wow, that Hagstrom really puts the bar in tug bar. (That's what that is, right?) Does it sound as good as it looks? And is the Guild from their collaboration with Salvador Dali?Giant switches. Giant screws. Sliding volume control (!) and the most over-engineered set of tuners you will ever find on a bass. Just wonderful

Gonna be using this in the studio in the near future.View attachment 2869438 I came across this picture of my brother's Hagstrom 6 string bass, so I now have it as my profile picture. I first played this in 1972. I believe it was made in the mid sixties. It follows the string configuration of an electric guitar, but an octave lower.
Does anyone else have pics of their weird old basses?
... is the Guild from their collaboration with Salvador Dali?

Nice! Mine's some sort of blue (not Baby, I should look it up) but it's so old that it has an almost greenish tinge in certain unnatural light.I had one of those back in the day. Mine was baby blue.
Gonna be using this in the studio in the near future.

And these. Love everything about these track fours@Morgan Koren - Love it! I bought a neck-thru Memphis back around ‘81 for about $300 with hardshell case that I’m betting started life in the same Matsumoku factory that birthed yours.

Now that’s what I call a bridge pickup!.View attachment 2870270 View attachment 2870255 Targa bass I found in a pawnshop recently for $200. I'm guessing Japanese and early 80's. I don't know if the P-Bass pickup is stock, but it sounds bright and aggressive. The Jazz pickup is useless by itself and the pickups are out of phase with each other. But the P-Bass pickup plus neckthrough construction reallymakes this one a zinger.
if Brian May played bass......My Ibanez Artist probably falls into the old and unique category.
