Universal Language?

It would definitely facilitate internation communication, but so much culture would be lost. I would advocate everyone learning one language, along with their local one, so there is the best of both worlds.

that's actually what's happened in some parts of italy (the outlying regions of Naples and probably sicily). Kids speak neapolitan or sicilian at home and standard italian elsewhere. My father speaks Sicilian to my grandmother and standard Roman when he needs it for work.

Or it's like when I'm on long island for vacation or I'm at work in my uncle's fish market, the accent get's real thick all of a sudden and I'm forgetting the big words i use at school. People would learn to live with the duality fairly quickly. But you would never change the old ppl. They're old.
