Double Bass Universities/concervatories with German bow teachers

Help!
I'm going to be a senior in high school next year and i switched to german bow and love it, my bow hold's more relaxed and there's no pain. But, since i haven't been playing it for years i'm wanting to know what schools have German bow teachers? or teachers that can probably teach it well. I will major in Double bass performance.

In a nutshell, everyone that I can think of except the Pennsylvania schools will have german bow teachers.

Wether they're good or not is for you decide after you visit and have your exploratory lessons.

do a search in the archives because I think this subject has been visited before

Jack Budrow at Michigan State
Paul Ellison at Rice
Bruce Bransby at IU
Jeff Mangone at Duchesne?
Eugene Levinson, Orin O'brien at Juilliard
Joel Quarrington at Mc Gill

All the teachers in Germany and Austria with the added benefit of not having to pay tuition.

the LA phil guys that teach at USC -as I recall- are German

The two main teachers that I have studied with play/teach german very well. Tom Derthick (University of the Pacific, UC Davis, Sacramento State University) and Robert Black (The Hartt School). Both are GREAT teachers and musicians. FWIW, I am a french player. Both teachers (rightly) have encouraged me to think of the two bow holds as being more similar than they are different.

The list of teachers placing people in major jobs is a very very short one. Search for the winners' list, and make your decisions from there. Those of us who have been blessed by time with these bass deities will nearly universally be happy to describe our experiences in their studios via PM.
