Double Bass Universities in Canada?

What would be the best place to study music/bass in Canada? If anyone has studied in Canada and can give me feedback, t hat would be great. Thanks!

Large amount of performing ensembles, very good applied teachers, great city for music, lots of chamber options available.

I'm going to McGill for my Masters.

Dalhouse in Halifax is a great school. I don't know any bassists that have gone there but I know a drummer and he loved it... I looked into going there but it's entirely classical. I'm going to St. FX for their jazz program.

In Ontario there's Queen's, Laurier (I think), McMaster, and U of T. Montreal has McGill. All have great classical programs.

I'm assuming you're a classical bassist since this is in Orhestral Technique. Next year I'm going to either York, Humber, or U of T for jazz.

Best orchestra. Great jazz program. As bass player in Canada I don't think you can go anywhere better.

I agree with the above comment. U of T also has a very good Jazz Program. The University of Ottawa has an incredible Bass Studio with Prof. Currie, he's by far one of the finest teachers in Canada.

I plan on taking a classical program, not a jazz program. Is Mcgill still the best choice?

I think it is one of the best choices, if not the best.

It really depends. Do you play French bow? If so the University of Ottawa with David Currie is amazing but very small. McGill with Ali Yazdanfar is also very good for French bow. Or where I go, the University of Toronto with Ed Tait.
