I'm the proud new owner on an 70's Univox. Here's my original thread post;

I was wondering if anyone knows how to find the year it was made? The serial number is 003121. And which model mine is. I thought it was a "Professional Bass" but I'm not so sure anymore. It doesn't have the Fender style P-Bass pups, they are smaller, like little plastic blocks. But they sound really good!

Hi. I thought you guys might dig this.

I'm starting a franky project with a univox beatle bass neck and a univox hollow 330 type body.

The bass will be a six string 3 course type a thang [like a 3 string but with octave strings]:bassist:

I still have a ways to got yet though...

Mudfuzz, that's pretty! Take a look at the shape of the pickup holes on that body, and compare them with the cutout on my Lyle bass project, below. The shape doesn't show as well in my photo, but it's identical - it's another clue they came from the same factory. I do note that your f-holes are one continuous cutout, but mine are three cuts each.

If you need OEM 4-string pickups for that Univox, I think I have a pair.

I no longer have it , this is a pic I found online, it's not mine, but it's the same bass. The only difference being the headstock logo was different (smaller and at the top, more like on the one in Pilgrim's #1 post), and mine still had the floating pickguard.

When my parents bought it, it had a plastic Maestro nameplate on the headstock, I only discovered it was a Univox when I removed it out of curiosity. I suspect it might have been a rebranded Factory second as there was an issue with a bit of sloppiness in the paint job at one spot on the side of the body. Not a big deal to me.
It had a really nice Foto-Flame top and back, Beautiful. Couldn't tell you how it really sounded, I never got to play it thru a decent amp. Wish I still had it, it was a delight to play.
Funny thing is I have absolutely no memory as to what I did with it. (????)

Whoo Hoo! I'm a member! :-)

The filtertrons sound amazing. Nice and full and clean. Lot's of deep end and really crisp in the mids, with a bit of grit in the highs. The fits was also pretty good. I had to sand the corners a bit to get the tabs in there, but other than that... piece a cake.

Well... it's been a while, but I finally have a decent recording of the univox with filtertrons.

The clips were recorded using a Sovtek Mig 100b Bassov Bluesboy with a Eden 4x10. The signal was blended between the mic'd cab and DI.
