I've been playing off unbowed, Vandersall photocopies, and just discover the the Vandersall edition is no longer in print. Does anyone know of any other unbowed, unmarked editions? Thanks for the help

Double Bass Unmarked Bach

Jeff Bradetich's transcription of the first suite has two copies, one marked, one unmarked. I got mine directly from him and I don't see it on Lemur, but it is published by Recital Music, so perhaps you will be able to find it. The only site I can find it on is in the UK.
The Barenreiter critical edition has an unmarked version in it (along with facsimiles of the four main sources). Pricey, though.

I have the Barenreiter. It runs about $60, but it comes with facsimiles of the first five known editions of all six suites, including the Anna Magdalena Bach manuscript (the closest thing to the original we have), as well as a relatively short piece of scholarship on the suites. Also included is a modern score based on these five editions, with every noticeable discrepancy between them notated.
Certainly worth the investment. I like Ellison's edition largely for his fingerings, which make more sense to me than most. He also took pains to use A.M. Bach's bowings as much as possible, which are considerably different from most modern transcriptions. I don't believe there is a "clean" version of it from Slava, since the point of Paul's edition is the bowings and fingerings.

Wasn't it a pretty sad day when that site came down? I hear there is a possibility it will start back up in some form or another in a few months. He's been updating the main page, and there is talk in the forum about it. It was such an amazing site, I hope it comes back!
