Well, I finally got the bass cleaned up and restrung. The problem is the E string is too long (37"), causing the unrapped portion to wrap around the tuning post.

This is not necessarily a serious issue as most flats can wrap around the post without breaking. La Bella is the only company who explicitly warns against the unsilked part of their flats wrapping around the post.

The string appears to play without a problem, and the ribbon is unaffected. I just wish they would make sets that fit these Fender heads better.

Group and Cobalt flat always fit Fender/Squier/Bacchus bass without E string too long issue. Meanwhile, there are no extra long set on both flat from EB too.
