Upgrade or Downgrade?

I have a Spector Euro with EMG 40DC's and an OBP-1 preamp. (18v) Lately I have been thinking of trying the EMG bQC system in this bass.

Tell me, would I be going backwards with the EMG system?

EMG pups with the emg eq work extremely well together...

It's not like I hate the Aquilar or anything. It sounds pretty good but it's missing something.

On a gig I start with the bass/treble fairly low and by the end of the set I unwittingly have it boosted all the way. I have to conciously make myself not do this.

Getting some noise in the pots so thats why I am considering the upgrade.
