Upgrading from combo to cab

I am looking for recommendations for a cabinet that’s able to produce 300-500 watts that is in the $200-$850 range. I’m upgrading from a combo to a cabinet/head and I’m a little overwhelmed by the options. I play in a punk, band and I think a 1X15 is too small and my friend says he won’t help me haul an 8x10, haha. I'm competing with other players in terms of volume and want something that can stand out clean, while getting that dirty sound, too.

I also play guitar through a bass amp to give it a heavier tone.

The Fender Bassman 410 Neo looks pretty cool, but I don’t know how it compares to other models. I plan to go to GC this week or next to test some stuff out.

My friend owns a Peavey T-Max; so I was planning on using that head. I think it’s compatible with 2, 4, or 8 ohm, but I am not entirely sure how all that stuff works. Is this a good head?

There are good used 4x10s all over CL every day. Check there first.

Great advice. I would start there. But IMO you should be looking for a whole rig. Finding a cab first and THEN trying to find a head that gets along with it seems like extra work. But if you get a rig that already plays nice together, you're done. Plus, once you get a head, you can take it into lots of music stores and try it out with tons of cabs. It's easier to lug around. So if you simply must get one or the other first, I would go for the head.
