I recently heard a recording of DONOSAUR'S hyper UGLY American Standard played arco, and thought that the tone was actually quite nice. I'm a pizz-only player, though, so take the comment for what it's worth.

Oh, well that's where it all falls apart. The Guthrie, OK Jazz Banjo Festival, where you could do both, isn't until May. Maybe you should book Bassrespanse by calling yourselves Banjorespanse...
Or maybe Durrl and Jamey Aebersold duo with that great publicity photo on another thread.

I actually have heard that about American Standards, but I've never witnessed that myself. I actually was referring to new plywoods. I know there are a few Kay owners who use them in orchestras, although I don't think they are going to win any auditions unless it is with Ed's East Bumf*ck, GA Phil.

Actually, playing in tune is also an important thing when working on a big sound. The notes will be much more accurate and will oscillate much more.
