Upright playing improving Electric bass playing technique

Hi all. i've been playing electric bass for about 24 years, and have been toying with upright for about the same off and on, with the exception of the last couple years, where i have been putting more consistent practice/playing time in on my doghouse:).

Especially in the last year, I have really noticed that my extra time spent on upright has really accelerated my technical ability on electric bass:hyper:! My tone has dramatically improved, as well as my ability to play faster, more intricate parts on electric with ease, smoothness and improved feel/control!

Has anyone else experienced this awesome benefit to spending more time on their upright bass? I've actually been finding that my practice time has been much more favoured towards upright, about 80% to 20% more time, and when I do pick up my electric its just such an effortless, joyful experience:D ( Not that it isn't a joy to play my upright too;))

Long gigs on electric are a breeze now(we often play 2 hour plus sets), and almost any fatigue I may have experienced in my hands/shoulders etc is non existent now as well! I'm turning 40 this year(not that I'm old haha:hiding:), and I can't help but ascertain that maybe a few hours a week on an upright, taking time to exercise proper technique could stand to benefit many of us who are getting to an age where we feel the aches and pains we didnt feel 10 years ago.

Let me know what y'all think about this:bassist:
