US: Northeast Upstate New York

Hope y’all are well in Upstate!

One of my bands is set to be fully vaccinated by end of March, and we plan on rehearsals soon after. We’ve also been booking outdoor gigs for summer, yay! Haven’t yet had “the talk” about when we will accept indoor gigs...

Some sad news in Ithaca today, they finally tore down the Haunt :( Apparently though someone bought the rights to the name and is looking for a new location:

Demolition of iconic live music spot The Haunt begins, but a relocation is coming - The Ithaca Voice
Awwww. Saw some great shows there.

There’s a new venue in ithaca called deep dive. Not sure if it’s the official haunt replacement but it’s about the same size. Biggest venue besides the state theater

Live music in general seems to be thriving here. A few other small venues are opening/renovating and tons of brewery and winery gigs around. Great to see the pandemic recovery!

Grew up in various small towns in St. Lawrence county, my dad is still there and I visit him yearly. Spent plenty of time in the Syracuse area (anyone remember the Penn Can shopping mall?!). Lived in Ithaca briefly, used to catch shows at The Nines. Lived in the Albany area a couple of years, hit QE2 once or twice. Lots of visits to Rochester and the House of Guitars. The missuz is from Rome, spent some time down there when we were first courting. Neat to see some fellow non-City New Yorkers here. :)

If any of you Rochester, NY guys are available tomorrow night, my new band Last Call is playing the Spencerport VFW from 7-10pm.

Address is 691 Trimmer Road, 14559.

Rochester area folks might remember this one

Remember it?? That guy still owes me like $50 in store credit for a crooked trade we did in 1998. I went to college at Geneseo and spent a lot of time in that joint. He’s still around as of last summer when I was last in. But he’s getting up there and slowed way down. Fond memories of Buzzo, in his bathrobe, and his band playing at the Idle Hour…

I see your Buzzo and will raise you a HOG Easter Bunny commercial...
Thx!

I was in a HoG commercial..... Christmas 1983 I was one of two people standing behind Santa Claus waving Iron Maiden records while he was playing Jingle Bells on a tiger striped Ibanez.

That happened totally by chance...... my buddy and I walked in while they were filming the commercial and Armand (HoG) owner told us to grab a couple records off the rack and stand behind Santa.
