USB interface 1-2 inputs

Hey there!
I just got rid of my entire studio set up at home... Cause.. could not justify all that money sitting and not being used. (Motu 8pre G5 etc) What I want is just a simple 1-2 input usb interface. All i want to do is to go DI bass/guitar to a programmed drum track to throw down some ideas etc. Since I've been off the market for that kind of thing for a while, could you help me out. What is the best bang for a buck in this situation?
And yeah I just tried to go DI into mic input on laptop => It still sucks, as it did 5 years ago 8-)

Just got this a couple weeks back-comes with steinberg's cubase (a light version but more than serviceable). For $130, you cannot beat it.

I have the Tascam and just picked up the Presonus Firebox Mobil. The pres are so much nicer in the presonus and the software, Studio One Artist, that they are packaging with it is first rate

The Native Instruments GuitarRig mobile is decent as well. it only has one input, not 2, but it sets up easily and does the job.

there does seem to be a number of good to great interfaces to choose from these days.

good luck

My guitar player is gonna let me borrow his fast track (first gen) for a week, so i am gonna see how it turns out. I really need just 1 input... even if i decide to do acoustic guitar idea i still need one. Line 6 looks good in my eyes too, but i missed a sale at GC they used to be 50! when they were changing generations.... damn it!

I use one for my "mini" setup - laptop w/ 2G RAM, Vista, Sonar 8. Works fine for recording one part at a time while playing the rest of the mix.

edit: MF has a 45-day satisfaction guarantee so you can try it out on your setup and see how it goes.

alright I will!
I installed drivers for fast track that i borrowed and i keep having latency issues and software would not load ASIO drivers. I found forum thread on that issue but I will try it tomorrow. Yeah there is a 2 input fast track pro on cl right now actually 8-)
