My most recent acquisition started as a new parts project to have a 2TEK bridge that was just *sick* according to at least seven players I know saw it. A hat trick of unfortunate events involving "techs" led to a retailer offering to replace the Bass. I selected a new top of the line custom color 5 string that was very nice, including the neck joint I slide my business card into. It went back and the retailer cut me a check for my costs.
I was shopping on the TB Classifieds and found the '11 Warwick SSI Broadneck 5, 20 miles away, mint and for the extract amount of my original investment.
*I've now changed hardware from Gold to Chrome, replaced the bridge with a solid Brass Masterbuilt bridge, a custom set of Hipshot tuners, replaced the preamp with a Darkglass Tone Capsule and have the horizontal fret Dingwall FD-3n pickups that Nordstrand makes installed. Sold all the original pristine parts to help offset the additional costs.
This Bass is 10 years old and Used, but NEW in most regards and unobtainable anywhere.
My last new Bass was probably around '91 or there abouts...my first real Bass, a Gibson Grabber was new In '76.
I didn't know better then!
