For sale Users Can No Longer Delete Their Own Ads

As classified ads are now infinitely editable, we no longer allow users to delete their own ads. This benefits all users in that they can use the archived pricing history as a guideline, as well as not allowing users to try to hide suspicious activity by deleting their own thread. When you no longer wish to have your ad be active, simply open your thread, click Thread Tools, select Edit Title, select "No Longer Available" from the pull down menu, and click Save.

Unfortunately, a lot of sellers are erasing the sale price by replacing it with “SOLD” so it basically eliminates any hope for some sort of price history.

It would be far more helpful if they could do a strike-through followed by the word “sold.”

ex: $500 SOLD

It’s actually not permitted for sellers to delete their price or all the information from their ad once the item has sold. Unfortunately we’ve found the title is the one thing we can’t revert the history on.

Why would anyone object to everyone seeing the sold price? It really helps other sellers determine a fair a reasonable price for selling equipment not needed or to upgrade. Its good for everyone...seller and buyers!!

It’s also stated in the TB classified rules that you must leave the price posted after its sold. But it doesn’t stop people from blanking them out just the same.

You can’t delete postings now, but every part of an ad can be edited. You can edit the title and price by using the thread tools menu at the top of your thread.
