Using a Boss CE-5 Chorus on a bass......bad thing?

not wrong at all. the CE-5 has been popular with bass players since the 80s. Some still prefer it to the "bass chorus" they later released, myself included

I like to use mine as a "subtle fattener" - just a little of whatever rate and depth you fancy with the filter emphasising the highs. I set the effect level so there is something else behind the bass, almost subliminal so that you notice when it is turned off rather than a crazy effect....
I bought mine for guitar and eventually replaced it with a Small Clone for guitar, glad I kept it now I really like it with the bass.

D'oh. If it sounds good, do it. I knew a guy who wired a 1/4" jack to the tape head of an old portable cassette player and ran the headphone jack to his amp. Distorted like an SOB, but that's what he was trying for.
I have an old CE-3 in my pedal board.
I use it mostly for guitar, but occasionally I step on it for a bit of 'artificial sweetener' when playing bass.
I find it thins out the bass' tone, but it's cool for upper register passages and such.
Now my old DOD flanger (first effect I ever bought), that thing boosts the low end like crazy, with a slow rate and broad sweep, cool for a big power chord filling up the room.

No it doesn't.
As far as tone sucking goes, it behaves as a normal Boss pedal - bass specific og not.
As stated above it has been very popular amongst bass players for many years, which indicates that it is a good chorus, even though it's made for guitar.
