Using flats with a sansamp??

I've got a set on order and I'm anxious to try them with my VT Bass. To each his own, but I bet they're going to sound killer. In the past my problems with flatwounds haven't been their sound, but that I've never been really satisfied with their low B strings.

I use a SansAmp BDDI and a Hofner 500/1 V62 strung with Pyramid Gold flats daily - the tone is fat and I can dial in a near perfect McCartney Beatles-era tone. I actually prefer the tone I'm getting with the BDDI in use and use it as a preamp, bypassing the preamp section on my 800RB. I'm able to dial in exactly what I'm looking for tonally and can't wait to try it with a Skyline Bob Glaub that I just picked up from a fellow TBer, which is strung with a set of LaBellas.

The SansAmp route doesn't work for everyone as we all have our own concepts of ideal tone, so YMMV.
