Using multiple brands of cabs in the same rig?

Sure, why not?

I've used a Yorkville/Peavey/no-name rig.
I've used an all Peavey rig.
I've used an all GK rig.

Brand doesn't matter. That's almost like saying you can only play a Fender bass with a Fender cable through a Fender amp with Fender cabinets.

Seems silly, doesn't it?

Ampeg V-4 (1972), Fender 2-15 with celestions 4ohm, & Eden 4-10xlt-8ohm. Amazing! Cut bass control way back, amp on 4ohm selector.
Will that amp handle a 2 ohm load, if not you could do damage to your head. I see you said you have the ohm selecter on 4 ohms, if it has a 2 ohm selection that is where you should set it for what you are using.

Sorry I think I posted this yesterday and it got deleted already....what is your opinion on this, guys? Is it even feasible, and what problems (if any) would it create?

It's been a way of life for me. I have used various Hartke, Carvin, Sonic, JBL and Ampeg speaker cabinets and heads over the years. As long as you don't exceed the minimum impedence there is no problem...other than looking like a pawnshop's clearance sale.

been there, done that, looks a bit less "cool" can sound great if the cabs compliment each other sonically and you like the resultant tone.

FWIW, be sure that you don't go below the minimum impedance your amp can take if it is SS, or match the impedance of the cabs to your tube head.

Hello folks! :)

I've a Thunderfunk TFB 550B.

I've ever used it with a Aguilar DB 112 Cabinet (one 12", 8 Ohm, 300W, SPL: 95 dB, 42 - 16k Hz)

Today I've used the bass amp also with an Epifani UL112 (one 12", 8 Ohm, 300W, SPL: 100 dB, 43 - 16k Hz).

- Only the Aguilar DB112 linked: good
- Only the Epifani UL112 linked: good
- Both Epifani and Aguilar linked: the overall sound was worst but, more than other, the overall "volume" seemed (to my ears) to be "less loud" if compared to only one cabinet linked (no matter if it was the Aguilar or the Epifani).

Note that:
- every cabinet has been linked via speakon to the two speakon-out of the head;
- when I used only one cabinet, the sound was ever good (no matter which cabinet I used or which speakon out of the bass amp I linked it to);
- the Thunderfunk manual says so <" as a reminder, the actual volume of your system is determined by many elements, the most important being the sensitivity of the connected speakers. A speaker system with a sensitivity
that is 3 dB higher will, for the same volume, will use about ½ the power of the lower sensitivity speaker system.
">.

Is this normal?

Waiting for your answer, I thank you in advance for your interest and attention.

Do the battery test to ensure the cabinets are wired with the same polarity. Both drivers should move in the same direction.

If the cabs pass this test (that is, they're not wired out-of-phase/polarity flipped with each other for some reason -- not likely, I think, but worth ruling out), it might be that those two cabs simply don't "play well" together. You may be getting phase cancellations between them in certain frequency ranges (not entirely unlike what can happen when trying to play certain harmonics with both pickups up fully on a Jazz Bass). You can experiment with cab placement -- including setting one cab or the other a short distance back on top -- but I don't know how much this will help.

If this is the case, you might consider picking the cab you like better (like choosing between children, I know) and cloning it -- er, buying a second one. ;)
